The Jharkhand High Court is recruiting for the position of Legal Assistant under advertisement number 01/2026. Candidates should be Law graduates or postgraduates recognized by the Bar Council of India, with opportunities available for final-year LL.B. students. The position offers a monthly consolidated honorarium of Rs. 40,000/- for a contractual engagement that can be extended up to two years.

Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate shall not be less than 21 years and not more than 35 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Any Law Graduate / Post Graduate from a University / College recognised by the Bar Council of India is eligible to apply.
- Students studying in the 5th year of a 5-year Law course or final year of a 3-year Law course are also eligible; final selection is subject to passing the final LL.B. examination prior to engagement.
- Candidates having familiarity with computer will get preference in matter of selection.
- Candidates pursuing Post Graduate degree in Law or any other degrees or programmes requiring compulsory attendance are not eligible to apply.
Qualification
Any Law Graduate / Post Graduate from a University / College recognised by the Bar Council of India; final-year LL.B. students of specified courses also eligible as per conditions.
Salary / Stipend
Each Legal Assistant will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 40,000/- per month as honorarium for engagement, or such higher amount as may be prescribed. The Legal Assistant shall not be entitled to any other allowance and/or remuneration, and will not be treated as a permanent or otherwise employee of the High Court Legal Services Committee, Ranchi or the State Government.

Selection Process
The selection shall be based on merit and interview. The shortlisted candidates shall be called for interview individually through the e-mail addresses provided by them.

Candidates may submit the application form in the prescribed format along with required enclosures in the office of the High Court Legal Services Committee, Jharkhand High Court, Dhurwa, Ranchi directly. Applications can also be sent through Speed Post only to the office of the High Court Legal Services Committee, Jharkhand High Court, Dhurwa, Ranchi.

The candidates should possess sound health, good moral character and should not be involved in or related to any criminal case or any type of offence/act involving moral turpitude. The engagement as Legal Assistant shall not confer any right of any employment under the High Court Legal Services Committee or the State Government.
